Queen City Certified is building a community of changemakers with a common vision and goal: a diverse and thriving workforce that brings greater success to our families, employers, cities, and regions. In 2021, we will continue to elevate equity together. We are proud to announce our first in a series of “Elevating Equity” community events. Dr. Stefanie K. Johnson, WSJ best-selling author of Inclusify: The Power of Uniqueness and Belonging to Build Innovative Teams, will be leading a discussion on how to foster a culture where people feel engaged, empowered, accepted, and valued. Participants will have an opportunity to connect with and learn from one another in the small group discussions that follow.
An associate professor at the University of Colorado Boulder’s Leeds School of Business, Dr. Johnson studies and teaches at the intersection of leadership and diversity, focusing on (1) how unconscious bias affects the evaluation of leaders and (2) strategies that leaders can use to mitigate bias. She is a frequent contributor to the Harvard Business Review, has presented around the world (including at the White House for National Equal Pay Day in 2016), and her work has been featured in Forbes, The Economist, Newsweek, Time, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, HuffPost, Washington Post, CNN, ABC, NBC, CNBC.
Organizations perform best when employees are recognized for their uniqueness and feel like they belong. In fact, studies show that inclusive teams are more productive, developing more creative and innovative solutions that drive value. But as leaders, how can we achieve this balance? Dr. Stefanie K. Johnson, professor and author of Inclusify will share practical strategies for developing, supporting, and engaging diverse and cohesive teams.
To “inclusify,” according to Dr. Johnson, is to live and lead in a way that recognizes and celebrates unique and dissenting perspectives while creating a collaborative and open-minded environment.
During our first ”Elevating Equity” community event Dr. Johnson will share how to identify the misperceptions and behaviors that undermine our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and tangible ways to overcome them.
In this exclusive QCC event, participants will:
Learn why uniqueness and belonging are essential to building innovative teams
Understand how strategies that have helped companies like Salesforce, Paypal, and General Motors overcome barriers can help your organization achieve its DEI goals
Connect with and learn from other peers and thought leaders, including Queen City Certified alums
Join Queen City Certified in this courageous conversation with Dr. Stefanie K. Johnson on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at 11am EST. Spaces are limited, so register early!
